BLaCk Bruce WaYnE MANOR: Who Would You Have As Your Dinner Guests?

Dinner table

Brooklyn’s own, BLaCk Bruce WaYnE is back with another post for you guys. He’s having dinner and he wants you to know who he would have as his dinner guests  as well as some of the topics they’d shared at the table. Check it out after the jump.

The dinner table, whether it’s with friends or family, is where most of us share interesting discussions, trade jokes and inform the group about the latest events that have occurred in our lives. Let’s think about the times we’ve sat down with family members and friends at the dinner table with debates that can range from current events, sports, politics or the lack of appreciation from the most recent generation.

This time around at the BLaCk Bruce WaYnE MANOR, I thought about the dinner table dynamics and generated an interesting topic for this entry. If you could have dinner with anyone or any group of individuals in the world no matter their background, who would you want to have dinner with? What would be some of the topics that you would discuss with these individuals? Would this be a trading of the minds or a debate about sports, politics, women/men or about the meaning of life?

I took the time to list the individuals that would be at the dinner table and some of the interesting topics we would discuss.

Quincy Jones- world famous composer, music producer & philanthropist

Quincy_Jones_main

My discussion with Quincy would start with why did Brazilian music become an inspiration to his music? I’d probably ask, who were some of the most difficult artist he worked with as well as if there was a piece of work he thought was not impressive but later claimed to be a masterpiece?  I would probably discuss some of the music that he finds interesting today. Lastly, I’d also ask about his other work such as his solo album ‘The Dude’, working with Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson as well as his involvement in various movie scores.

Michael Jordan- former NBA player & CEO of Jordan Brand

His Airness would have to be at the dinner table because of his greatness on the hardwood as well as the overall development of  his brand that is not just limited to sneakers. I think we would definitely go into a discussion regarding his  decision on signing Kwame Brown? Why did he let Rip Hamilton go from the Washington Wizards?  Lastly, is there a need to release those Air Force 1 and Jordan hybrids with the most redundant patterns and has Tinker Highfield been involved at all with the development of all those shoes?

Larry Ellison- co-founder & CEO of Oracle

LarryEllison

Larry Ellison would make my dinner guest list because he is probably the coolest computer geek that constantly enjoys being the David in the David & Goliath (Microsoft) battle in the software world. I would definitely ask him about he closing the gap  between his company and SAP in the ERP realm. (Sorry I got geeky for a moment) I’d probably talk to Larry about his upbringing as a foster child and then  mention if he is really going to bring a football team to Los Angeles that can revival Paul Allen’s (co-founder of Microsoft) Seattle Seahawks. Finally, I would also ask him how does he maintain his villainous look?

Sade Adu- R&B singer

sade

Sade makes the cut because #1) she is Sade. #2)her lack of visability in the past 10 years. I would want to know how do you take the music scene by storm, vanish, come back with a great album in 2002 and to only vanish again!?  Where have you been and where are you hiding, baby? I think I would also ask if she wouldn’t mind being a cougar to a  dashing gentleman in his mid-20s who is of Ghanaian decent (hopefully she can put the Ghanaian & Nigerian disputes to the side)?

Muhammad Ali- former boxer &  World Heavyweight Champion

muhammadali

The Greatest of All-Time has a seat at my dinner table. I’ve always been intrigued by Ali’s boxing intelligence and his  command of the sport. I’d probably ask him about the Rope-A-Dope tactic that he pulled in Zaire against George Foreman and did he fear it being a very detrimental move with regards to his career? I’d  also ask his opinion on who he thought were some of the greatest fighters in the last 30 years.

Warren Buffett- investor, philanthropist & CEO of Berkshire Hathaway

42-15907293

The Sage of Omaha and I would have a discussion about the US economic status as well as what would be some of the best alternatives to address the toxic loans owned by the banks. I would probably discuss his overall instincts when it comes to investments. I would enjoy to hear his opinion on professional sports teams and the use of PSLs being a possible investment.

Ken Griffey, Jr. – MLB player
ken-griffey-jr-mariners

The most electrifying baseball player of the 90s and into the millennium will definitely have a seat saved for him. Those that know me are fully aware of my adoration for the sport of baseball as well as Ken Griffey, Jr being my all-time favorite baseball player that I had the privilege to witness while growing up. First thing I would discuss with Junior is the current state of baseball and steroids allegations that have circled the sport. I’d ask who he considers the true holder of the all-time homerun record, Aaron or Bonds?  I would want to know why was durability such an issue during the latter part of his career? Lastly, will he ever do a Griffey Brand with Nike for baseball by having Derek Jeter (he doesn’t need to be with Jordan Brand), Jimmy Rollins, Albert Pujols, CC Sabathia (same as Jeter), Derek Lee, Ryan Howard (Adidas is no bueno), the Upton Brothers (same as Howard), Adam Jones & Andrew McCutchen as the representatives?

Ralph Lauren- fashion designer

ralph-lauren

Ralph would make the final cut on the dinner guest list because of his influence of fashion injunction to my love for the brand no thanks to my parents’ introduction at a ripe age of 3. My discussion with Mr. Lauren would include his consistency always remain relevant year in-and-out with a very rock industry such as fashio. I think I would probably ask him if I can be a silent endorser of his brand and receive Rugby, POLO, RLX, Purple Label and  Black Label products without having to paid either

Hey I just wanted to let you know, I actually like the piece of writing on your site. But I am using Flock on a machine running version 9.04 of Crashbang Ubuntu and the look and feel aren’t quite right. Not a serious deal, I can still basically read the articles and search for info, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of hard to use with the config I’m running. Keep up the superb work!
