BLaCk Bruce WaYnE MANOR: The Soundtrack of Your Life

For most of us music has probably played a major part in our lives. It probably draws memories from a childhood to maybe a certain boyfriend/girlfriend or a Saturday/Sunday afternoon that stands out like a sore thumb. I am a major fan of the 80s and 90s because everything seemed so brand new to me because obviously I was a kid. I have taken the time to list a few of my own tracklisting but this time I want to hear from our readers.

What would be the soundtrack of your life? We would like everyone to list 5 songs that would be on the tracklisting for the soundtrack of your life.

The BLaCk Bruce WaYnE (Soundtrack of His Life)

1. Sade- “The Sweetest Taboo” (1985)
Childhood moment-My parents were big on African musicians and who better than Sade Adu in the 80s. Plus, she’s still fly for a women over 40.

2. Michael Jackson- “I Can’t Help It” (1979)
I heard this song being played at my uncle’s house when I was 5. I wanted to know who played the piano in the background and he said ‘the producer’. I’m sure the guy playing the piano has a name but let’s thank Quincy Jones for putting it together and making me a study of music.

3. Ghostface Killah feat. Raekwon & Cappadonna- “Daytona 500″/Nas-”Black Girl Lost”(both 1996) (tied)
Nas & Ghostface’s album were one of many that held me down on those long train and/or bus rides to high school each day. Those of you from NYC who didn’t go to their zone high school can feel the pain of trooping to another neighborhood or borough for an education.

4. Kanye West feat. Consequence & GLC- ‘Spaceships’ (2003)
This song reminds me of the long time spent as a college rep for Island Def Jam thinking of promo ideas.

5. EPMD- “So What Cha Sayin” (1989)/ Ice Cube- “It Was a Good Day”(1993) (tied)
Another childhood moment. My older cousins would stay playing these tracks at times. I knew I clearly wasn’t allowed to listen back then.

6. Bobby Brown- “On Our Own” (1989)
Whenever I think gumpy cuts with the sharp parts, Bobby Brown always comes into play. In addition, if you were a New Edition fan or Ghostbusters II fan you can relate.

It’s Your Turn….SHC would like you hear yours…
